The game's premise is much like that of Simon and some of the games on Price Is Right. Hyper Dash uses a plunger and six differently numbered and differently colored discs. The basic object is to follow the instructions of the plunger in the least amount of time possible. For example, in the Hyper Dash game the plunger may tell you to plunge the red disc. The next time, it will say plunge the number six disc. For even more difficulty, the Hyper Dash plunger may ask you to plunge the last disc you did, or the disc that is six minus four. You have to be quick on your toes to get the best score against up to three other players in four different levels!
The Micro Dash game is a little different. This time you have to plunge the discs in order. The plunger calls out one disc, and adds another, and another and you go on as far as you can without messing up. I like this version because it improves the memory skills of my children. If they seem to master the number sequences, I push it to the next level that throws in colors and numbers, doubling the memory responsibilities!
Hyper Dash can also divide the two games into a team mode, which encourages the kids to rely on each other for success. Imagine playing a game of kids versus parents. I've had fun with the kids "beating me" because I "forgot" where the last disc was! It was a definite confidence-builder and memory motivator for my children.
So how is this excercise? Hyper Dash uses radio frequency technology so that the plunger reads the right discs. That means you can put the discs anywhere you want. I've spaced out the Hyper Dash discs out in the front yard and watched my kids run themselves out trying to beat each other's times. Also, you can even hide the discs in the house to add even more difficulty and fun to the game. That is the beauty of Hyper Dash: your kids can grow with the game, making it a near-endless toy.
Hyper-Dash is truly a winner when it comes to educational games. It sure beats sitting around mashing buttons, and it is much cheaper than a Wii or Dance Dance Revolution!
