Hypocrites, I Say!

Lisa R. Strong
God says "love thy neighbor";
They do not love;
They hate all who don't worship as they do;
They claim to have authority;
All they have is deception;
They claim to know the truth;
Yet they have no real understanding;
They say that I have been brainwashed;
Because I don't worship the way they do;
They hate my church;
So they think that it's okay to slander;
And no one will stand against them;
But I will.
I will head for higher ground;
While they stand in their self-righteousness;
Maybe they all need to dig a little deeper;
Into the Word in which they claim to follow;
There is something that they haven't read;
Or maybe it is something they chose to ignore;
We are commanded to love one another;
Gentle mastery has eluded them;
They love to condemn me;
And they use the Bible to justify it;
Yet they do not know me;
They do not know my heart;
I love God;
And I worship Him as I choose;
I respect all freedoms;
Especially, freedom of religion;
I will not slander their Church;
Or say hurtful things;
To those who worship there;
Or spread vicious lies;
I refuse to hate in the name of the Lord.

    Some Christians believe that trinity opposes the truth about monotheism and Prophet Jesus while most believe that it's the same. I agree with the uniquely truthful Christians who reject trinity/belief in Isa as G-d due to the objective ground of true monotheism.

    Only to fairly correct error rather than to selfishy gratify our own ego (own worst enemy). Love and hate/anger are meaningless without the support of good reason. Rebuking Satan is the same as hating Satan. Love is not always good and hate is not always evil. Good intention is the key but none of us were commanded to be perfect. Humility and honesty is more needed than agreement and shallow respect from all. Ego-censorship is the worst, and opposes empathy and fairness the most.

    Amen and brava! Truer words were never uttered than to shine the light of hypocrisy on those who have the "truth" on their side. In every faith there are those (and often too many) that speak the words and miss the meaning. They pick and chose what cannot be segregated and call it their belief.

    Very strong words! Worship is probably not something to be proscribed... It is interesting to consider the things people worship...Money, Power, Success, the self, etc. Many people claim to worship One God, while actually worshiping various idols(Money, Power, Success, Celebrity, etc.).

    A powerful satire!Your concern for values and righteousness is clearly expressed in this poem.It may be prosaic but the social concern
    and appeal to the mankind make it as a poem packed with sarcasm.
