Hysterical Homemade Halloween Costumes

Sandra Knasiak
While many people prefer scary Halloween costumes, funny Halloween costumes happen to be my favorite. They make us laugh and can serve as great icebreakers at a party. Not to mention, funny Halloween costumes tend to be more unique and are more likely to win costume contests. So, if you would like to trade in your fangs and scary mask for a funnier alternative this Halloween, read below for some hilarious Halloween costume ideas.

Keith Stone
You'll need shoulder length brown hair, a black black baseball cap, shoulder length, and black tee shirt that has a graphic on it. Wear a black, puffy vest over it. Or, you could choose a grey tee shirt with a black jacket. Carry an empty case of Keystone light on your shoulder and a big Slim Jim.

Something about Mary
Remember this laugh out loud comedy from the late nineties? I know you haven't forgotten the famous hair gel scene. Well, that comical scene can make the perfect costume that is super simple and sure to score some laughs. If you already have a cute bob cut and blonde hair than you are all set. If not, just find a wig. Using actual hair gel, simply style your hair accordingly, throw on a coral V-neck shirt, and get ready to receive some laughs.

Sue Sylvester
With the success that the popular, new show Glee has seen, dressing up as one of the main characters is sure to turn some heads. I recommend Sue Sylvester. To mimic her look, don a white track suit with red stripes (or a red or blue Adidas suit with white stripes), white sneakers, whistle, megaphone, Slushee cup, and a short blonde wig, if needed. You could also add a stop watch/timer to put around your neck. Walk around making the classic loser sign with your index finger and thumb.

Tiger Woods with a Black Eye
Ok, this is what you will need to pull off the Tiger look: a Nike Golf shirt (of course), khaki/black pants, and a Nike hat. Personally, I would choose a black Nike hat with a red Nike polo shirt that is either solid or red with horizontal think, white stripes. When I did a Googe image search, that combination showed up frequently in the results. Toss a pair of white gloves in your back pocket. You could also carry a golf club if you like. Lastly, using makeup, give yourself a black eye.

Snooki
Love her or hate her, there is no ignoring Snooki!. The self proclaimed "Guidette" made her way to fame on the reality show, Jersey Shore. If you haven't heard of it, you must not own a television. This costume will work best for petite women. Find a tight-fitting, cleavage-showing animal print dress. Get a wig if you don't have long, brown hair. Make sure you style your hair right with the infamous bump, this is essential. Also, how ever you want to choose to achieve it, just make sure you have a tan. Oh, and carry a cigarette. If you really want to be funny, use your imagination and create a" South Park Snooki" costume.

Jet Blue Flight Attendant Steven Slater
Who can forget this guy? That bizarre yet hysterical situation makes for a great Halloween costume. You will need a black button-down, long sleeve shirt with a blue tie. Over your black shirt will be a black apron that says Jet Blue. Make a fake Jet Blue Employee I.D. badge and wear it around your neck. Don't forget your beer!

Mike "The Situation" Sorrentino
This costume is easy to pull off. Be sure to use a ton of hair gel. Make sure you have a nice looking tan. Wear bright white, brand name sneakers. Wear a shirt that says "The Situation" and iron-on a set of six pack abs.

Medical Marijuana Doctor
Slip into a white doctor 'sjacket and add large marijuana leaf with a red cross behind it.

Peg Bundy
An oldie but a goodie. Even though this show has been off the air for a while now, Peg Bundy is not easy to forget.

MacGruber
Get yourself a mullet, a flannel shirt with a tan vest over it and a pair of old jeans.

It is so easy to come up with an idea on your own. Think of popular television shows, movies, fictional characters or news headlines that caught your attention. If they sound like they would make good Halloween costumes, do a Google image search and think creatively of how you can replicate the desired looks. After coming up with an amazing costume, you will never by a store bought costume again. Happy Halloween, Y'all!

Trick-or-treating grew from English soul parades that took place on Halloween. Poor people would go to doors begging for their souls. Kids took it over and folks started baking them sweet soul cakes. It didn't catch on in the U.S. until the 40s.
