Hyundai to Introduce the Diesel Version of I10 and I20

Hyundai Motor India is thinking of launching the diesel versions of i10 and i20 in India. Hyundai which hold 25% market share in Indian small car segment has already begun the production of these diesel versions but for exports.

The engine details and the specifications are yet to be finalised. There is speculation that the car manufacturer would roll out i20 diesel with 1.4 litre CRDi engine. Regarding the price, the diesel version is expected to cost higher compared to the petrol version. The company might be eying the 8% concession in the excise duty levied on smaller cars.

The popularity of diesel cars in India are increasing and with the growing demand many car manufacturers are focusing on the diesel variant. Indian passenger car segment witnessed remarkable growth in the sales of diesel powered vehicles to achieve 30% of the 1.5 million cars sold in the last 3 years.
