Hyundai Sonata sedans produced between December 11, 2009 and September 10, 2010 is the sedans at risk. Reports indicate there have been no accidents because of the steering columns. Complaints have come in about feeling looseness while driving or abnormal sounds coming from the steering columns.

The process to repair the steering column will take approximately an hour to fix. The steering column will be looked at for a bolt that may be threaded wrong or loose. The problem with the steering wheel is the connection between the steering wheel and the steering column.

Hyundai dealers will examine the steering column and update power steering software if needed.

The Hyundai recall is causing fear for some because this recall comes as the investigation starts after the Kia Soul multipurpose car. Following a complaint by two consumers the investigation was opened Tuesday. The two complaints were over Sonatas steering wheel.

The Kia Soul complaint was registered but the person uploaded video to YouTube causing a few problems.

This is only a preliminary investigation to check for defects in the 2011 Hyundai Sonata sedan. Many think the US is targeting Hyundai after Toyota, since it's unusual for an investigation after one single complaint.

During the first seven months Hyundai sold 108,000 Sonatas in the US. Kia and Hyundai say defects could be from assembly processes instead of structural defects. For many automobile buyers poor assembly means automakers quality control is imperfect. Results should be in soon from the investigation of the 2011 Hyundai Sonata sedan recall.
