I Am Being Followed

What a Blessing it Is!

Michele Starkey

People are following me around. How can I be sure? In the past two years of freelance writing on Yahoo's website, I have over 400,000 page views. Believe me, I simply do not have that many family and friends. I have published 750 items - less than one per day and still have over 400,000 views. Being followed is the good news.

How did I do it? - I had help.

I believe that writing is my gift from God. When I am walking in His Will (or writing in His Will) then I will naturally begin to draw attention to the articles. It is not by my own might. God is using me to reach others, everyday, all over the world. I am not sharing this with you to draw attention to my own accomplishments rather to share that God's Glory translates into my good.

Everything that I write doesn't mention God, Jesus or divine intervention but it should reflect my beliefs, my opinions and my hope. If it does that, it will be a natural light that attracts others who may question the source of my wellspring.

People are watching me. Not just what I write for publication everyday but in the comments that I leave for others. There is a great deal of responsibility in being followed and watched.

There are even times when being watched or followed comes with a price. I once received a threat of violence. It was a point of contention between my husband and I, he wanted me to stop writing on the World Wide Web for awhile. Suddenly, the Middle East was a whole lot closer to home. The FBI traced the threat to Pakistan. It actually made me more comfortable knowing they were not in New York.

We prayed through it because we know that when we remain faithful to God, He remains faithful to us. Psalm 91 says it this way,

"The Lord says, "I will rescue those who love me.
I will protect those who trust in my name.
15 When they call on me, I will answer;
I will be with them in trouble."

The trouble faded away, the enemy retreated and now I am rejoicing in being followed and watched. Two years, 400,000 views later, I can say,

To God be the Glory.

    Sorry you had to deal with that threat. Your writing often has a positive, uplifting or thought-provoking theme without feeling forced or limited to a single belief system. I appreciate your articles and the thoughtful comments you leave for others are a nice bonus.

    Thanks for sending me your article link, Michele. As a beginner with Yahoo Contributors, you reaffirmed the way I feel. For me it's all about saying something that makes a positive difference in someone's life. That is obviously what you do all the time. Thanks again.
