I Am My Cat's Pet

None
A large, furry, orange tabby cat named Sunny is the proud owner of me. What's worse is Sunny lives with her little sister Stormy and Stormy thinks I'm her pet part of the time, too.

Most people who own cats know exactly what I am talking about. The cat is the real king of the domestic domain and they like to flaunt it. Just ask Sunny and Stormy. They tell me when to feed them. They leave toys all over the floor and demand that I pick them up. They also let me know when they need new toys. They wake me up when I sleep in too long. They let me know when my cooking does not meet their approval. They also demand to sit in the best seat in the house.

There are advantages to being owned by Sunny, though. First, she and Stormy keep my diet in check by eating a fair portion of the food budget. Second, both Sunny and Stormy make pretty good playmates. I get a lot of exercise just by playing with the two of them. Next, they make great alarm clocks. Last, but not
least, they're always there to listen when I feel like venting. They don't care what I look like in the morning and they are easy to please when it comes to entertainment. No expensive rawhide bones for them. They'd rather have some yarn or the drawstring out of my pants.

Cats are good owners for people who work long hours or are not home as much, since they are more independent than dogs. When considering an animal companion, remember, dogs are looking for people they can befriend and cats are looking for pets.

There are somethings you must consider when picking out an owner. First, kittens grow up. Some people fall in love with a kitten and seem to forget that the kitten is going to grow into a cat. The end result is usually, unfortunately, stray and abandoned cats. Next, make sure your owner cat has room to run around and play. They can go stir crazy, too. Also, the age of the person must be taken into consideration. Most young children do not make good pets for cats. Last, but not least, make sure you can afford to keep your owner cat happy and healthy. Make sure they are spayed or neutered if they spend any time outside. You don't really want 20+ cats bossing you around, do you?
