I am a man
I am a boy
Fighting Wars,
In it, I find no joy
I am a boy
Fighting Wars,
In it, I find no joy
I do my duty
For Uncle Sam
Part man, part boy
That's what I am
Sailing away
To distant shores
Marching on land
Fighting your wars
Yesterday, I was home
I hadn't a care
Today, I'm on an airplane
Headed to God knows where
Will you weep for me
If I never make it home?
I am a man
I am a boy
I will make it on my own

I'm not a huge poetry fan, but this poem is awesome! Speaks from the heart .....Love it.
The fact that the human brain is not fully developed until we are 25 should tell our fully developed ones they are too young to decide death and recover. War is sad.
So true!
It just breaks my heart that our soldiers have to be so young, and they inevitably lose their youth in war...if not their lives.
powerful and full of emotion
This is beautiful. We saw many parents saying good-bye to their young boys at the airport this weekend. I wept just watching the tearful partings. Very well done Janet.
Few have said it better.
Intense and touching... Good job!
Powerfully written Janet! Great remembrance for all of us who forget!
