I AM NOT SO SURE
I look back with an melancholy eye,
half convincing myself
that my present is better
than what has been.
When I hear people say that life
is better than the alternative,
a voice deep within me whispers,
in recognition and quiet protest,
"I am not so sure."

Post a CommentWow...
So many are alive yet dead inside. I understood this in my own way but I think we see it the same. I love your honesty too.
We all think that perhaps we are better than we used to be, too. I'm not so sure things are better, either.
I read this again, and sometimes I wonder too. I see someone who has passed on and think, you are the lucky one, you know all the answers and you are out of here!
I am reading and enjoying your poetry...it is so honest and open and you have such a refreshing humility..Thank you
I understand--through my own perspective, of course. I like the photo of you. It does indeed show your mind. But I have to say--what a cute boy!
poignant poem
I'm not so sure either.... I love life... but I'm still not so sure! Fabulous!
Death is shorter than life. I enjoyed this, You certainly have a way of imparting the emotion that you write with at the time of construct. I think that is the challenge O. It is to be so truthful so ego less that when we write everyone can access it, can see it is not contrived. Great work.
