Well, by now you are probably wondering why I have chosen such a route and what on earth made me do so. Well the truth is there are several reasons why I am deciding not to vote. Yeah, you can call me a rebel...I don't flow with the crowd, yes I am different and I don't mind admitting to it. However, the first and main reason I have decided not to vote is because, and get ready for this but this is how I feel, the running mates are not Muslim (One who submits to the will of God). They are not going to implement God's laws, so I cannot stomach voting for either candidate. Now, don't get me wrong, I have nothing against Christians, or anybody else for that matter, so it really isn't about whose religion is better or worse. I just feel that manmade laws will never succeed. There will always be corruption, deviance, and deception when it comes to what we as humans plan for our societies. There will always be poor people, criminals, and immorality. Under God's laws, which several nations have seemed to skip over, is the only way that ultimate change can and will come. So there will be people who agree with me, probably very few, yet there will be others who strongly disagree with my reason. But I don't care.
Another reason I have decided not to vote is because when I voted in Florida, for the 2000 election Bush against Gore, I am pretty sure that my vote was one of the votes that happened to disappear. I was really upset about that. That was my first year that I could vote, being age 19 at the time, and then to find out that election was rigged, just made me think, it didn't matter, my vote isn't being counted anyway. I truly believe that the election is fixed. I think that it may be a conspiracy in there somewhere, maybe with the Electoral College. No matter what the conspiracy may be, I know that there is one and I chose not to be apart of it.
The next fine reason I have chosen not to vote is because the media chooses the next president not America. One minute the media, CNN, Dateline News, etc. are hyping up one candidate, the next they are shutting him down. The media control the minds of this country and I refuse to let them control mine. So many Americans are really lost and confused because of a 10 second advertisement. It is ridiculous!
A very strong reason that I am not voting, comes from my own background and personal beliefs. I believe that whoever is in office will continue to have innocent Muslim civilians killed and tortured. I am not for killing anyone, regardless of race, religion, ethnicity or gender, but let's be real here, the people that are being shot up at the time are Muslim. Well I am a Muslim so I feel as if they are killing innocent members of my family. I am against it. The same way I am against lynching African-Americans, or wife beating. These things touch close to home, because they are who I am. I am an African-American Muslim Woman.
The last reason I have decided not to vote is because I believe in divine predestination. That means, that whoever, God (Allah) wants to be the president, then they will be the president, it is already written and out of the hands of us humans. Just like the assassination of President Lincoln or Kennedy, or the day Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. was born or Brother Malcolm X's house was bombed, whatever God intends to be it will be.
So there you have it. Maybe you will hate me because of this article, maybe you will love me, or maybe you won't care at all, but these are my reasons. And because I am an American, I have every God given right to feel the way that I want to, regardless of what MTV, CNN, or the World has to say.

Post a CommentAssalamu Alaykum,
I went to Jumah and the Imam declared, "If you do not vote in this election, you are committing a sin." As Muslims, we are taught the hadithâ¦If you see something haram, change it with your hands, if you cannot do that, then speak out against it, and if you cannot do that, then condemn it in your heart, this is the least of faith. On the day that Prophet Muhammad (SAWS) died, there was no immediate Janazza; in fact, the Prophet (SAWS) was not even washed. The companions set out to elect a new leader. The Prophet (SAWS) was not buried until after Abu Bark (RA) was chosen as a leader. And as history tells us, Ali (RA) was his competitor. This event led to Sunni, Shia divide within Islam, yet people voted. I appreciate your displeasure with the Electoral College, and the mockery the 2000 and 2004 election made of this process, but it is still a process. One that needs improvement and I believe that this election is the start of that improvement. We wi
u say its not about whose religion is the best, but one of the reasons your not goin 2 vote, is because there
is no muslim candidates, so that's like talkin is circles to me. one of the reason that your not voting is because of
religion. how is that different then somebody being prejudice 2 u?? sayin 4 example they would hire u, bcause your
a muslim?? if u were the best person for the job u should b hired right?? just like u should vote for the best candidate
for the job. im sure u have non muslim friends, work with non muslim people, and have non muslim family members.
even if it were a muslim running, does not mean he would automatically b the best person 2 b president. another reason
u stated, was because u believe the next person president, would contiune to have muslims killed b cause of the war or what
not. do u kno barack obama's views on the war??? if u don't, i encourage u 2 do some research. no one wants innocent people
2 b harmed or killed. i bleve that barack
