I Am Withdrawn

Jules Dixon
It is a mysterious devotion we have to one another.
You share this place inside me with no one else.

An eternal place.

You hold my vulnerabilities close to you.
And apart from you.

Yet I find with new self revelation
I am withdrawn. Officially.

I can not carry this burden, this love,
This attraction/destruction any longer.

Forgive me my naivity.

Unjust to you in my devotion.
In allowing you the comfort
Of me.

In the evening, by the flicker of candlelight,
I am a frightening reflection.

It is done. I have withdrawn.
