According to the article, "With jaw dropping aerial acrobatics overhead, the Wings Over Whiteman air show will celebrate 100 years of military aviation this fall in western Missouri."
This unique and breathtaking family fun event will be held on Saturday and Sunday, September 18/19. Additionally it is free to the public. The hours will be between 9-5.
The AFB is located in close proximity to Knob Noster, MO. If arriving from Kansas City it is about 65 miles Southeast off US Hwy 50.
This year's performers include the U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds demonstration squadron, along with the parachute team known as the Golden Knights. Oohs and ahhs are sure to be two words uttered throughout the day by children and adults alike as they are riveted to the artistic precision of the performers.
And when you "come down to earth" after that, you can relax and enjoy several aircraft that are housed at Whiteman. Some of these include the B-2 Spirit bomber, A-10 Thunderbolt II and the AH-64 Apache helicopter.
If you plan on attending, be advised that all visitors will be screened before entering the grounds. You might want to look at their website at www.wingsoverwhiteman.com for more information about what to bring or not bring with you. You can also contact them at 660-687-6439.
I congratulate the Wings Over Whiteman show in this 100th year celebration. Your artistry in motion is a pure delight. Today my wings go off to all the staff and participants that make this show possible. And more importantly thank you for what you do in keeping our nation safe.
