I Believe Terrorists May Have Infected the Fast Food Industry

Bob Wagner
I am beginning to believe that terrorists just might have put a drug in the water system of our fast food restaurants. Not a drug to kill or maim us but one that destroys common sense. I have felt this way for quit some time but lately it seems as though it is getting worse.

In case number one I walked into a Burger King and ordered a Chicken Sandwich and a drink, no fries. I get my bill and it is more than it would be with the fries so I speak to the girl at the register. You mean I save your company money by letting you keep the fries and you charge me more? "Yes sir." So, I would save money by getting the fries and throwing them away? "That is right", was her reply. Well I think that is a waste of food, can you just bill me for the combo and not give me the fries? "No I can't do that." Oh boy! OK, how about you give me the fries and I take them off the tray and leave them on the counter? "Then we will have to throw them away."

I leave with my sandwich and my drink before I get infected.

In case number two I take my family out to Pizza Hut. They have a special that included two large pizzas with two toppings. I place my order and ask the girl to please take one of the toppings from one pizza and put it on the other. Her reply? "Sorry, we can't do that." But why? I am still getting four toppings, it is not costing you any more money or time, you just put one topping on one and three on the other. "Sorry sir, then you will not get the special." Can I speak to the manager? "I am the manager"

I sit down and when the pizzas come I move the toppings myself. Another one infected.

Case Number three. I get in the mood for a chocolate Oreo shake so I head over to Hardies. At this particular store they take the ice cream and add the crushed cookies to it before putting it into the blender. The typical way of making it is to use vanilla ice cream but I assumed it should be no problem for them to use chocolate. Same labor, no additional food costs, no problem. Wrong. The infection has spread here too. "I am sorry sir, but we cannot make it that way we have to use vanilla." OK can you make me a chocolate shake? "Yes sir" Will you please add a scoop of those cookie crumbs to my chocolate shake? "Sorry, that will mess up our inventory" I know what to do. My wife is getting a vanilla shake, why not ring her up as an Oreo shake and put her cookies in my chocolate shake? "I can't do that sir, but I can give you an extra cup and you can mix half of her Oreo shake with your chocolate shake."

Never mind, just give me peach.

Buyers beware! Watch out for this infection and if you work at one of these places, think about what you do or you too can become infected. Use common sense, your business is to serve the customers what they want and make your business money in doing so. Without them you have no business. In these three instances each food chain made a decision not to please the customer and it would not have cost them one cent more to do so. That is bad business. Think about it.
