I Can't Help Myself with You

Jim McCray
Who'd have thought that holding hands
would make us fall apart like kids
crying in a giggling fit?

I know it's stupid,
but I can't deny
this is the bluest sky
I've ever seen
and your eyes,
the prettiest green.

When did you get so sweet?
I'm drowning in the sheets;
dying of diphtheria in my dreams.

I never thought I'd feel like this again
after all those years I spent
hiding from the opposite sex.

So, what do you think?
Can we make this thing
last longer than anyone before?

Take it to the grave-
I'll scratch your name
into the roof of my coffin
while I'm rotting.

And, don't look now,
your lips are calling out
to me.

There's no way to stop
all this love I've got.
It's raining
a chemical cascade.

I can't help myself with you.

Rock and roll. I've traveled the world and found my home in New York. I often think I'm smart, but just not very good at showing it.  View profile
