I Have a Cat Upon My Lap!

The Feline Benefits of Working at Home

Suzanne Bennett
I must say
I love it that
I have a cat
Upon my lap.

The fur, the fuss,
The competition,
Wrangle my thoughts
To their rendition..

Were it not for you my pet,
My thoughts would flow
They'd soar!
You bet!

"But where's the fun in that?"
I ask.
Wrestling
Spices up my task.

I type.
You swipe.
I write.
You bite.

You dig your claws
Into my thighs.
The blood they draw
Inspires new heights.

Of benefits of work at home,
None compare to this small one.
A furry presence to remind,
"Hey! It's almost feeding time!"

Well, if all she does is sleep, maybe you could write a haiku! The cat of which I write really is the one pictured, and she is just as wicked as she looks, and she really does all those dreadful things! She really deserves a much longer poem! =0

Hmmm...I also have a lap friend while working on the computer. My baby sleeps on my lap while I type :) Maybe I should write a poem for her, too!

This almost made me cry. I just lost my sweetie to old age and your poem got me right in the heart. Thank you!
