I Cry Out to You

Deborah Coss
I cry out to you,
But you do not hear.
You are long gone.
But the pain is still here.
I ache for the sweetness we had,
Then remember it was mostly in my head.
I wrapped my life around you,
Like a mother wraps her baby in her arms.
I loved you, body, mind and soul.
I told you so.
And I know you loved me too.
As best as you could.
But what should have never been,
Should simply have never been.
And it's time I let go.
