On your special day;
But the sky had grown dark;
And it began to rain;
If it were possible;
I would have used the phone;
On this wonderful day;
I would not leave you alone;
I would've brought you some roses;
So beautiful and red;
But since I can't afford them;
I drew you some instead;
I remember you drinking coffee;
Late every afternoon;
When I gave you your present;
Your smile lit up the room
But at least you are not alone;
You have Sue and dad;
But that doesn't mean I don't remember;
The happy times we've had;
So here are some roses to you, dear mother;
Sent with love, wherever you are;
I know that you are watching me;
From your distant star
