I Don't Want to Wait Anymore

A Poem

Etienne J. Sarfelli
We've waited so long for this moment
one circumstance or another always managing to keep us apart
even as we continued to gravitate toward one another
but time is passing by
day turns into darkness
and another night that we are alone
who knows what will happen
once we are finally together
the Hallellujah Chorus may sing
and all will be right with the world
or the gods will fill the world with laughter
at our belief that we could ever be as one
But we've waited long enough
and risked losing each other for far too long
and it's time to discover
what our hearts seem to have already known
