Today, I drove. Today, I drove! TODAY I DROVE!
Wow, that was just weird. In a matter of minutes, I have come infinitely closer to becoming a full fledged citizen. Tomorrow I will be starting my official behind-the-wheel course, but it wasn't like my mom was going to just go in there without any experience. As long as an adult is with me, I can now legally move thousands of pounds of metal simply by pressing down with my foot. I can't believe this!
It's just mind-blowing! All my life, I have relied on either my own two feet (unlike the rest of society, I will never lose my love of those to wonderfully crafted extremities) or adults to get from place to place. I have lived in the shadow of those who are full citizens; those who are fully franchised; those who are fully capable of participating in the world and often choose not to! In a few months, that will all be over...or at least, it would be if this were a decade ago and there weren't all these different restrictions on new drivers.
But that's not the point. The point is that soon I will be a real citizen! Soon, I will be completely unfettered! Soon, I will be driving myself to school and it will be completely legal! Eat that Mr. Hauck!
