I Fail so Often

mellifluent
I fail so often...

When I see the smiles,
But fail to read the eyes,

When I shake hands with so many,
But fail to feel warmth in any.

When I laugh with them and cry too,
But fail to find them when I do.

I have failed so often

When despite the lessons of wisdom my parents taught,
I failed so often whenever I fought.

When I took for granted the love of my parents,
But failed to share with them, same warm moments.

When I rejoice in other's accomplishments,
But fail to hear a word of encouragement.

When I counted my blessings for the friends I had,
But failed when in times of need, I found myself alone and sad.

How long the path of my failure is going to be,
If this is reality then I no longer want to see.

Shutting my eyes is not the solution, I know
I want to erase the facade and let it go.

If this is life, then let it be so,
No more, now no more I'll let me feel low.

I think we've all felt like we could do more, love more and feel more. I know I have.

Sad poem, but ends on a happy note. I can kinda indentify with it :-)
