I Found Some Words and Now They're Here

....
I listened out for your voice

And I could not hear it

I watched the streets to see you

And I could not find you

I saw a smile which resembled

One that shone from you that day

It reminded me of so much joy

That saline rivers meandered down

I heard a voice which sounded familiar

I saw a shadow that looked so similar

I caught a glimpse and then it left

I found some words and now they're here

I destroyed myself to see if I was mortal

I ressurected in time and steped back from the tunnel

I rebuilt myself to know that I could

I believe in you because you said I could

I tasted fear which was sugar coated

I blew trouble gum bubbles

I spat it all out when I realised

That all in life was compromised

And how that word is made of promise

Made me understand all so clearly

That

I could not hear you because I wasn't listening

I could not look for you because I wasn't seeing

The shadow I saw was an absence of light

The darkness is cold and I'm leaving its night

The last five lines - very powerful. A good close for the piece. Found this via Twitter, fyi.
