I am the mother of two boys, ages 10 and 3. The births of my boys was by induced labor. I have never experienced labor on my own. Because of this fact, the doctor did not think I would go into labor with thislast pregnancy. I was scheduled to have induced labor three days after my due date of March 19.
On Saturday March 18,my boyfriend,my two sons and I went shopping. I did not feel right. I had pain as if someone was pressing down on my abdomen. We got the shopping done quickly and I went home to rest.
The next day,I got up early.I did my usual morning routine and I drove my boyfriend to his job. On the ride,I did not feel right at all. I kept having cramplike pains in my stomach. They would come and then stop. The pains, later I realized they were contractions, continued with that pattern.
My boyfriend told me that if I did not feel better Once I got home that I should go to the hospital. I even had to pull over and let my boyfriend drive for a few miles. We got him to work and I drove home by myself with the pains continuing.
When I got home,I called my sister in law and left a message for her that I thought I may need to go to the hospital. In the meantime, the pains got stronger and unbearable. I stood in the doorway and held onto the wall. I told my grandmother to call the ambulance that something was wrong. I was so scared and I had no idea what to do.
The ambulance personnel arrived within minutes. I explained what was happening. The men asked me if I was okay to walk down to the ambulance. I was standing there and the next thing you know, the baby came out screaming. I quick got onto the floor and the men did what needed to be done. I was so happy when they told me the baby was a girl. I was stunned and embarassed at the same time. I could not believe that I had delivered my baby at home in my parlor. It was Sunday march 19 at 8:10am and it was the baby's due date. Unbelievable!! Leave it to a girl to come into the world on time!!!!
