Well that all of that changed last Saturday night. I decided to ask a very special person out to dinner. We have had dinner before, but I wanted to make sure that this time she knew how special she was. I also wanted to make sure that my invitation was done the right way. Knowing that she is a fan of the reality show "The Bachelor" I bought her one red rose, printed a very nice invitation and presented them to her. She read the invite, accepted the rose and accepted my invitation. I couldn't believe that she said yes with all of the other commitments she has. Knowing that she loves Italian food, I made sure we got reservations at one of the nicest Italian restaurants in Denver.
Before I tell you about my night, let me tell you more about my date. She is a beautiful person both inside and out. She loves sports like I do, is positive and enegetic, and best of all carries herself with style and dignity. I have known her for what seems like forever and have actually had dinner with her before. I was always impressed with how she would carry on a conversation, as well as how polite and respectful she was.
Well as the night approached, I got very excited. I wanted to make sure that I looked great for her so I put on my best looking cloths and got ready to go. As she approached the car that night, and I opened the door for her, I couldn't help but to think how lucky I was to be having dinner with her. There are so many guys who would love to date her, but tonight she was with me.
We arrived at the restaurant right on time and the host immediately sat us at a beautiful table. As the waiter handed us our menus he asked us what we would like to drink? I know that she doesn't drink, but she was kind enough to encourage me to have a glass of wine anyway. As we looked over the menu I was impressed as she asked the waiter what he suggested, even though she already knew what she was going to order. As the night went on, I again thought about how blessed I was to be having dinner with this beautiful person. I could not have had a better time that night. The service was excellent, the food wonderful and the company special.
As I brought her home, I let her know what a great time I had and asked if we could do it again sometime soon. As she said yes, she gave me a big hug and then said those words that just made me melt "I love you Dad, thanks for taking me out to dinner tonight".
If you have not taken your daughter or son out on a special evening lately, you have no idea what you are missing. Never forget that each and every day we are making deposits in the memory banks of our children. Give your child those special moments, all to themselves, and the return on your deposit will pay dividends for the rest of your life.
