I Hate American Idol

Johanna Swith
I am the only person in the world who couldn't care less about American Idol? I have never actually watched an episode of American Idol but I feel like between all the nonstop blabbering from friends and all of the stupid clips that are rebroadcasted on practically everything from the View to the nightly news I know way too much about this television show.

What I don't get about it is why do people get so emotionally involved in a show about singing? Why do people actually care about these random people who are willing to go on television and sing and be belittled by Simon Cowell? American Idol has lead so many untalented people to believe that anyone can become a star. I am so sick of hearing about American Idol and I am even more sick of hearing everyone and their brother sing in public...

I think singing and dancing in public is embarrassing- especially for those of us who are spectators. I want so badly to say " Honey please! You are going to make me sick if you don't stop acting like a stupid teenager." This is just my opinion, and I will admit that I am in a foul mood today as I write this article. If you are reading this, my goal is accomplished. I merely wish to increase my page views and I know American Idol is one of the most popular searches right now, and it is almost always a top search topic. So here is to hoping that this brings in some views!

I think if people invested the time and emotional energy that they spend on the television show American Idol on something productive, a huge difference could be made in this sad world we live in. If people cared more about the people in their community who are suffering and less about what rude things Simon Cowell will say to contestants, maybe things would improve in their communities. Again, this is merely a rant from a grumpy girl.

If you are an addict of American Idol- I respect and appreciate your right to watch this stupid show. I am glad that watching people sing on television can entertain you, and I hope it gives you a break from the day to day stress and drama that infests a lot of peoples lives. But for the record... I think this is a stupid show and I think a lot of people are obsessed with it which is confusing... I bet the news doesn't get anywhere near the ratings that American Idol does.
