When you tell that to someone who love reality TV, they act like you mean it literally. Too bad they're not smart enough to figure out that you just like making them mad. This doesn't go for all lovers of reality TV, of course, just the emotive ones.
The thing about reality TV is that you are forced to suspend your disbelief in a way that fictionalized TV shows don't ask for. That is, you're forced to believe that ridiculous things are happening in the real world as a normal activity.
The more realistic a reality TV show is, the more the producers and other powers that be will edit the footage to make the events look like something they're not. What you get is a bastard hybridization of a fiction show taking place in reality that is controlled and mangled by maniacal rich people.
Kids see these shows and get an impression that their life is somehow extraordinarily boring. They do stupid things, usually with cellphones pointed at the, and then their stupidity if put on display on YouTube, where other people wonder where their parents are and what they're smoking.
All of this I don't particularly care about-if others like to waste their time watching other people have lives, then have at it. What it don't like is its encroachment into my life. Can I please go to the bathroom without having someone talk to me across the stall (fart) about Robert and (plop) how much he's (ooooh, that burns) since the last time he was on Survivor?
Here is an idea. Open your door. See that place out there? Looks like reality, right? Only you can smell and touch it, unlike your TV. Those fingerprints all over your LCD are starting to get embarrassing.

Post a CommentI hate it as well. they're making a mockery of the kids on them, that's why the contestants are so young - the young can be molded and manipulated (under 25) the shows are agist as well. I'm only in my 20s myself but SICK of so many kids on these shows. Adults have talent too.
I hate reality tv too. I don't think there's any truth in reality tv. I think reality tv is just a series of sound bites, put together to make money for someone, because we know that somebody is getting rich off this.
