I Can Hear Your Laughter

(dedicated to Steven West)

Lisa R. Strong
I love the way;
Your words create a smile;
The way you chase;
The darkness away;
Such a simple thing;
Can cause an upturned lip;
And a sound of joy;
That rumbles from deep within;
And bubbles to the surface;
Sweet and contagious;
Full of love and joy;
A knight of optimism;
Brings a gift of humor;
Medicine for a dreary world;
You do not chuckle;
You blast forth instead;
Willing to play the part;
Of the class clown or buffoon;
Just to bring happiness to others;
Sometimes we poets;
Need to lighten up;
And forget our angst;
If only for a short time;
And you, my friend;
Have done that for us all;
On behalf of the AC poets;
I say many thanks.
