I Just Can't Care for Everyone

Ruby Kavitsky

I glance behind and see the fires
Cities burning to the ground
Voices scream and call me towards them
But I shield my eyes and walk away

I just can't care for everyone
I'm not meant to save the world
For the first time in my life
I want to live for my happiness

And yet again I'm sucked back in
Caring for you more than for me
I will bring you love and complete safety
But will you do the same for me?

I look ahead as the skies are clearing
The blackened clouds are dissipating
The world will turn with or without me
And that is my brutal reality

I just can't care for everyone
I cannot save the world
But I will forever strive
To be your reason for happiness

I feel like this all the time. If more people would put eachother first this would be a whole different planet.
