I Just Didn't Care that Much

A Poem for Steven Craig

Etienne J. Sarfelli

I Just Didn't Care That Much

After all you put me through

I could have slashed your tires

Prank called your cell phone

Left messages on your machine

Or harassed you at work

I could have cried for days

Thrown away all the cards and letters you ever wrote me

Or even torn all your pictures into little pieces

I could have done all this and more

But then I realized

It didn't really matter

I had been going through the motions

Spending time with you

And it wasn't until the day we finally parted

That I discovered

I just didn't care that much.
