I remember it as if it were yesterday. It was my 4Th birthday party and all of my brothers and my mom and dad were at my old house and I was opening my presents. Well when all of the gifts were opened the only thing I had on my mind was the cake and ice cream. I kept begging for it to be cake and ice cream time already. That's when my dad explained to me that we couldn't because I still had another gift.
I was a bit confused for a second because I was sure I had viciously opened every gift they had thrown at me. But that's when my dad came out from his room and he told me to close my eyes. I closed my eyes and by the count of 3 I opened them and there I saw it for the first time my beautiful brand new blue colored bicycle.
This was my first bike so I needed to learn how to ride it. My mom kept making a big deal out of the fact that I never rode a bike without training wheels before so she insisted on trying to put the training wheels on the bike for my safety. You know how moms are and plus I was her youngest so I humored her and let her put them on.
I was riding around my driveway before I knew it. I was having the most fun in my life, well up to that point of my life. I was so proud of myself for riding up and down my street with my blue bike and my blue helmet my mom put on me and buckled me into.
However, when my parents went to work the next day and my oldest brother was watching me and my other brothers. We decided it was time for the training wheels to come off. I had seen my brothers riding their bikes without training wheels all the time and I thought that they just made me seem like a baby, and even though I was 4 years old all I wanted was to be just like my older brothers. So my older brother Jake took the training wheels off for me and told me to hop back on.
I put my helmet back on and hoped on the seat once again. My brother held the back of the seat as I started to go forward in case I fell right away. Well he did that for a couple loops around the driveway before he realized that I was riding my beautiful blue bicycle all by myself. I had no fear about it either it at the time seemed to be what I was meant to do to ride bikes.
I hear this story from my family all the time and I think it is really funny how I was so proud of myself back then for learning to ride a bike but I guess we don't realize how some things are great accomplishments and great experience for the future. If I never learned how to ride my bike I may never have had all the fun times me and my brothers experienced riding our bikes around in the summer. I am glad I didn't fall my first time and I am sure my brothers were glad too that they didn't have to teach me much, or deal with me being injured.

That's the story of my first bicycle and how I came to ride it.
