I Know, He Will Not Return to Me

Aparna Dutta
Those birds leaving their nests on early morning,
I know,
They will return to their nests sharp at the evening,
But my sweetheart man,
Who went to meet with the God at heaven forever,
He will never come back to me. Never........never.

Those children, walking for schools before a noon,
I know,
They will come back to their nice homes very soon,
But my sweetheart man,
Who went to meet with the God at heaven forever,
He will never come back to me. Never........never.

Those trains moving fast and leaving their station,
I know,
When tomorrow comes then again they will return,
But my sweetheart man,
Who went to meet with the God at heaven forever,
He will never come back to me. Never........never.

Those men who are in hopeless and in dark lives,
I know,
they will smile again if they get truly sweet wives.
But my sweetheart man,
Who went to meet with the God at heaven forever,
He will never come back to me. Never........never.

Dear readers, I expressed my feelings in my mother tongue Bengali language, because I did not know English very much and it is difficult to me to write a poem in English, but my son Saikat (your favorite poet) translated those words from Bengali language to English and make it an English poem then I published it on my CP page. Thanks for your comments.

Wow! This is great. Very emotional and poignant! I guess the apple doesn't fall far from THIS tree! It is evident where Saikat gets his gift of word-smithing!

Aparna ji, your poem is very beautiful and sad. But I bet it is more profound in Bengali than in English. I now regret learning Hindi instead of Bengali. :(

I see where your son gets his talent, right from his beloved mother. What a sad but meaningful poem. Straight from your heart!
