"I like It" Facebook Status Gets Suggestive for Breast Cancer Awareness
Where Do You like It? Your Purse that Is
"I Like It" On Facebook & Breast Cancer Awareness
Still wondering why your Facebook friend is sharing, "I like it on the kitchen counter" and referring to where she likes her purse? The "I like it" Facebook updates are simply a way to provoke curiosity, especially that of men, and get them to ask questions. The purpose is to draw attention to Breast Cancer Awareness month.
The message I received on Facebook requested a simple posting of where I liked to put my purse or bag when I got home. The status update had to be in "I like it" form. For example, "I like it on the couch."
The message even states that the post doesn't have to be suggestive to arouse curiosity. For example: "I like it on a shelf."
But what fun would that be? Most women on my Facebook friends list are enjoying the game and the confusion--but all for a good cause.
Facebook "I Like It" Statuses Hope to Top Bra Colors
In January, bra color postings made their way around Facebook, attracting media attention. This is also the hope for the "I like it" Facebook status posts. The message I received bluntly made this a goal, stating:
"The bra game made it to the news. Let's see how powerful we women really are!!!"
Apparently the game is working, as "I like it" related searches have broken into Google's 'Hot Searches' list.
Breast Cancer Awareness Month
The Facebook "I like it" status messages may be posted in fun, but they promote a timely cause. October is Breast Cancer Awareness month. According to the National Breast Cancer Awareness Month website, the observance was created 26 years ago to promote public awareness of the disease, share information and provide more breast screening services.
The organization notes that breast cancer is the second most common cancer that affects women. The American Cancer Society estimates that breast cancer will kill 39,840 women in 2010. The number of estimated breast cancer diagnoses is 207,090, for that same year.
So the next time a friend posts a purse update such as, "I like it in the closet," consider updating your Facebook status on where you like it.

Post a CommentA lot of people criticize the "I like it" for breast cancer awareness. I find it catchy and cute, not derogatory at all. I like it under the table :)
Interesting, worthy cause:)
I like it in the closet!
SEX SELLS EVEN BREAST CANCER. yes, this thing attracts attention, and that is a good thing. but i wonder if men will be more careful with their girlfriend's breasts afterwards, or if women will go to the doctor more often. But probably they'll only remember the "Where do you like it" jokes.
Guys can do it too! Just tell people where you like to listen to music! "I like it in the living room" "I like it on an airplane too"
Great article =0)
i like it on the camel saddle by the kitchen floor
