I Love Google Chrome

I have been a fan of Google products for some time now. I am a faithful Gmail user, I blog on blogger, I create and edit most of my documents using Google Docs, and I check Google Reader daily. When I saw the Google Chrome web browser, I downloaded it immediately. I have never been disappointed in a Google product before and Google Chrome is no exception.

Google Chrome, even though it is a beta version, it is almost everything I need in a web browser. It is simple and it just works. The design of Google Chrome is minimalistic and easy on the eyes; there is not the busyness of icons and toolbars that I have with FireFox or Internet Explorer. As it is today, Google Chrome is almost good enough for me to leave my primary browser altogether. It is simplicity implemented well. Here are some of the highlights of the browser.

It's fast and stable

It's probably due to all of the add-ons I have loaded on to FireFox, but compared to Google Chrome it loads excruciatingly slow. Google Chrome loads up fast and isn't prone to crashing. The few times it stalled it was easy to terminate the individual tab that caused the problem using the built-in task manager.

Few keystrokes are needed

The more you surf with Google Chrome the less typing you have to do to navigate the web. When you open the browser or a new tab, your nine most visited pages are there in a grid of thumbnails. The address bar and search bar are one, and as you type Google predicts what you may be looking for. I tend to use the same websites often so I can get to almost any of them in just a few keystrokes or by clicking the thumbnail on the homepage.

Easy Bookmarking

Just click the star near the address bar and you've bookmarked the web page.

Incognito mode

For times when you don't want a history or record of your web browsing there is incognito mode. To open an Incognito window, you can click the wrench and select "New incognito window" or use the keyboard shortcut Ctrl+Shift+N. In incognito mode your browsing history, download history, and cookies are deleted when you close the incognito window.

I love when things just work and that's what I love most about Google Chrome. I'm impressed that software that is still in beta is so stable and functional, but at the same time it is what I have come to expect from Google products. Probably 90% of what I need in a web browser Google Chrome delivers. It is almost enough that Google Chrome allows me to have fast, secure, and simple web browsing but I'm looking forward to seeing how it will evolve in the future.
