I Love Walgreens! Easy Ways to Save Lots of Money While Shopping!

A. Schulz
I love Walgreens! I just wanted to start out by saying that I just love Walgreens! They have convenient locations everywhere around me and you can get some really great bargains if you look for them.

The first thing I recommend is signing up at http://www.walgreens.com to receive special offers from Walgreens including coupons and sales alerts by e-mail. They will e-mail you notifying you of special sales and coupon offers.

The next thing I recommend is to review the weekly ad from Walgreens (which you can find in your local Sunday newspaper or in your local Walgreens store). In store, these are located as you walk into the store, in a metal bin near the entrance. Compare this advertisement with your coupons to get even better savings! You can use Walgreens coupons (which are located inside the weekly ad) along with manufacturers coupons to further stretch your dollar.

Another recommendation is to buy items that generate coupons printed at the register, which are also known as Catalinas. At Walgreens, these coupons are called Register Rewards. You earn Register Rewards by purchasing qualifying products. These purchases generate the Catlalina machine to print out coupons called Register Rewards. These Register Rewards are coupons that can be used on future purchases at Walgreens the next time you go shopping. You can learn about Register Rewards in the weekly Walgreens sales ads, and also on the shelves next to products throughout the store. You can combine these Register Rewards with coupons for even further savings.

The next recommendation is to pick up the Easy Saver rebate book (which should be located next to the Weekly sales ad near the front entrance). If your store is out of stock of the Easy Saver rebate book then you can view and print one out at http://www.walgreens.com/store/rebateclub.jsp .

Use the Easy Saver rebate book to look for Easy Saver Coupons inside and also to see which items are on rebate for that month from Walgreens. Walgreens offers many items which are "free after rebate". These are really the greatest items in the Easy Saver rebate book! Combine your coupons along with the rebates to earn even greater savings.

Once you have purchased your items, be sure to hang onto your cash register receipts as you will need these in order to submit your refunds for the Easy Saver rebate program. You can either mail in your form and receipts to the address inside the Easy Saver rebate book or you can submit them online at http://www.walgreens.com/store/rebateclub.jsp . If you submit your rebate online you have also saved yourself the cost of postage to mail it in too.

You can choose either to receive a check in the mail or you can choose to get a Walgreens gift card. If you choose the gift card option then you will get a bonus of an extra 10% back with your rebate. For example, if your rebates total $15.00 and you request a Walgreens gift card, then your rebate will come out to $16.50. If you already have a Walgreens gift card you can just supply your card number and your rebate will be loaded right onto your card. I find the reload option to be the quickest method of obtaining your refund.

Finally, from time to time Walgreens offers coupons for in store use that are $5.00 off a $20.00 purchase and are usually good on Friday and Saturday only. These are sporadic and you have to look for them. Again, if you sign up for sales notifications at http://www.walgreens.com they will e-mail you a notification letting you know that there is a coupon online for $5.00 off, etc. These are a wonderful savings opportunity. You can combine this $5.00 coupon along with your manufacturers coupons and Walgreens coupons and the Easy Saver rebates and maximize your savings potential. Sometimes the savings are so great you get items for free or make a little bit of profit! Also, sometimes you will receive coupons that allow you to get a free Walgreens gift card when you transfer your prescription to Walgreens. These are usually generated at the register on a completely random basis, but sometimes these coupons are also in the Weekly sales flyers mentioned above.

I also use my Walgreens Gift Cards from my rebates and prescription transfers to buy my items for the Easy Saver rebates.

As you can see it is very easy to save money while shopping at Walgreens and with so many convenient locations it is a wonderful way to stretch your dollars while buying essentials for your family and without having to drive all over town in order to do so. With gas prices the way they are nowadays this is an added bonus!

Happy shopping (and saving)!!
