I Miss My 80's Shows

TV Today is Such Garbage

Television today, is such a waste of time. Yes I know it is supposed to entertain us, but each time a new show comes out, it as if they become a bit more idiodic than before. I really do not watch TV any more, because it is so hard to find anything worth watching anymore.

I remember back when I was younger that had some really great television shows. They were entertaining, and also provided learning opportunities at the same time. You sat down as a family, and could rate to the message that was being broadcasts.

One of my favorite shows was, " It's a different World", and it came on right after the Cosby Show. It portrayed African Americans in a positive, and realistic light. The show was about some college kids, and their life at Hillman University. They had parties, and did homework, and got in trouble, came home for visits, fell in love, etc. I loved that show so much, that when I met my high school sweet heart, one of the questions he asked was, " What college do you want to go to?" "Hillman ", I said. " Um, that's not a real college", he chimed in. I felt so stupid. But I watched it every week. It gave me something to look forward to, as I got older. But not today, today they have dumb shows like, " The Real World", and " The Hills", and not to say that they are not realistic. I guess that's why they are called reality shows.

The message that TV gives to young people today, it is not the message that I want my kids to have. It's not the life that I want them to look forward to. I have tried to beg and reason with the TV-holics in my house, but it's a loosing battle, that I have lost many times. "Lets get the cable turned off", I say. They all look at me like I'm crazy. Husband included.

Its got them sucked in and brainwashed I tell you, sucked in and brain washed.
