I Have a Parade in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina

Every year on the third Monday of January, the country honors the life of Martin Luther King, Jr by making that day a federal holiday: Government business are closed for the day and parades are thrown in his honor. This year's Martin Luther King, Jr. Day arrives on January 17, two days after what would have been Martin Luther King, Jr's eighty second birthday (January 15, 1929 - April 4, 1968). He was an advocate for civil rights movement and that is why his memory is held in such high honor every year. This year's memorial of MLK will be hosted in Myrtle Beach, SC by the Carolina African American Heritage Foundation, Inc. on January 15 to January 17.

The events planned are as followed:

January 15 - A gospel concert will be held at Mt Olive AME Church located at 1108 Carver St. in Myrtle Beach, SC from 4pm to 7pm. The cost to attend is $5. Refreshments will also be sold.

January 16 - A Day of Reflection (yesterday, today, and tomorrow) will be held at the Sandy Grove Baptist Church located at 1008 Carver St. in Myrtle Beach, SC from 5m to 7pm. There is no cost to attend this event.

January 17 - Corporate & Community Awards Breakfast will be held at the Canal Recreation Center located at 901 Canal St. in Myrtle Beach from 8am to 11am. The cost is $25 per person or $200 per table. The Grand Parade will begin at Chapin Park at 1399 N Kings Hwy and end at the historical site of Myrtle Beach Colored School Museum and Education Center, located at 900 Dunbar St. Brown Bag Working Luncheon will be held at the Historic Myrtle Beach Train Depot, located at 851 Broadway St from 2:45pm to 5:45pm.
