I Saw a Giant

I saw a Purple Martin
breezing in the sky
as if floating without effort:
freedom is up high!

A modest Sparrow nervously
pecked seed at my window feeder
fleeing at my simple habit
of just moving in my space

I saw a giant towering Martin
not fleeing from his space
the little Sparrow for the moment is still nervous:
my little Sparrow is agitated

This rock solid Martin,
a giant guardian for the nervous birds
doesn't offer alarming words today:
what words today could summarize?

The tiny Sparrow needs assurance
and the aged giant rock Martin
absorbed all the combative words

the rock it remembers,
always remembers
