I Saw You Today

I looked over at a glance and I saw you today. Although I knew it couldn't be you, I stared anyway. Remembering the way you dressed and how much you liked those (as you called them ) wife beater shirts, with blue jeans and sneakers and the ball cap, it was just too much. I remember that and the smile you would crack when someone jagged your funny bone.

I remembered all the times you would go for a walk and come home with flowers for the table. How you always made me feel good about myself and my decisions, even if you didn't agree with them.

Hunting season was like Christmas to you and fall was your favorite time of year. The look on your face when after ten years together we were going to have a baby. The way you always worked on the house and the time you tried to fix the bathtub fixtures and it broke in your hand, water everywhere.

Sitting on the porch after dinner, enjoying the fresh air and talking about the days events. So many things that seemed would be forever and are not.

But I want you to know as I sit here at your grave that I did what you asked before you passed. You asked me to go on and do all things the same, and I have tried, I have moved on, but things are never the same, I think you knew that when you asked, because you knew me and what I would probably do.
I catch myself driving home and thinking wait till I tell... and then I remember what is.

It is just fitting that on Father's day I tell you about our daughter and her husband and you now have two beautiful grandsons and that we love you still and will forever have a special place in our hearts for you and all we did in our lives together. Time does heal the initial shock but never really recovers the loss.

With all this said honey, Happy Fathers Day and we love you. Angels hold you close.

What a beautiful fathers day gift to your husband and his children. He lives on in your memories and always will no matter how hard it may seem they are always with us.

How beautiful this is and so touching...but it is also inspirational, that one can go on, even if it is terribly hard to do so.

Mom, this is beautiful!! Your right, things will never be the same. But knowing Dad is with Jesus now makes things easier to except and move on. I'm sure he is watching over us. Great job, I love you!
