I have heard the cries of pain,
Late into the night, while the world slept.
I have seen the tears of sorrow,
I have witnessed the death of a mind
Slowly, wrapped in torture.
I have been part of all of this
Without even knowing.
Without stopping the agony.
I did not give words of courage,
I did not help.
But I do understand.
I have been there myself, once.
I have felt the craziness,
I have cried the tears
I have screamed from pain
That was rooted deep inside.
I have felt alone,
And I have desired the peace.
I understand,
Though you might never guess.
I too have tried to die.
Late into the night, while the world slept.
I have seen the tears of sorrow,
I have witnessed the death of a mind
Slowly, wrapped in torture.
I have been part of all of this
Without even knowing.
Without stopping the agony.
I did not give words of courage,
I did not help.
But I do understand.
I have been there myself, once.
I have felt the craziness,
I have cried the tears
I have screamed from pain
That was rooted deep inside.
I have felt alone,
And I have desired the peace.
I understand,
Though you might never guess.
I too have tried to die.
