Velvet warm embrace
Secure
Snuggled dreams
Until the attack
Swift
Vicious
Poisonous wound
Wrapped in a web
Of deceit
But wounds heal
Eventually.

Wow, this says a lot and delivers maximum emotions in so few words. Well done!
Great poem! I'm keeping my comments short because I'm sooooooo far behind on my AC reading. (At least, my comment *was* short until I tried to explain why it was so short.) :)
Sorry you had to live in a web of illusion, Theresa, but you're a strong survivor from way back. Thank God you got out. And you're right, healing comes in time, if we let it.
Ummm duh... sorry.. I now see the subtitle... it is figurative. Very nicely done.
Wow! Is that spider real or figurative? Sounds figurative to me...if it is figurative, I can relate. My husband was a spider living in a web of lies. Eventually those wounds do heal.
