I Smile on Your Scorn

Robin Jessie-Green
When I said I was giving up

I meant on you

That didn't include me too

While I'm gallivanting throughout town

Don't think I'm walking aimlessly around

I'm wading my way through new waters of destiny

Finding myself in a state of new found contentment

Instead of depressive misery

My happiness cannot be built in or around you

I have to find it within me and discover what is true

I can love me and know that I am deserving

of something far more than what you bring

I've decided, "I don't" so you should probably take back your ring

When you stand puzzled and perplexed by the unrecognizable look upon my face

My response will be,

"This is called a smile. Scorn has been replaced

permanently."

(Except upon your countenance, that is.)
