I Still Remember
I thought about coming to see you today
I decided it would be a good day for a visit
with the rain pouring down
Darkened skies to match my mood
But a strange feeling came over me
I'm not sure I would remember where to go
I used to be able to find you
I could close my eyes and know exactly where you were
But it's been a while since my last visit
Oh, please don't think that I've forgotten you
because I haven't.
Hardly a day goes by that you don't cross my mind
Hardly a day goes by that I don't wonder what might have been
But the time came for me to move on with my life
And eventhough I missed you
I knew I had to stop making you the center of my world
I will always love you; that will never change.
And I hope to see you again one day
I promise to stop by one of these days
Maybe I will even bring fresh flowers
and a pebble to place on your headstone
so you will know that I do still remember you.
