I pour over books and notes.
My eyes droop,
As Mr. Sandman approaches,
With his bags
Of pleasant dreams and rest.
But...
I must keep studying.
I have a test tomorrow.
I cram into my brain
The principles and facts
Of video production
EFP, ENG, Rule of Thirds,
Aesthetics, editing, and sound.
My head aches.
Mr. Sandman tempts me
With a dream or two
And six hours of sleep.
But...
I must study.
I have a test tomorrow.
The words on the pages
Scrunch together
Into endless lines.
Lines become blobs,
Blobs of black text.
My hand and my arm,
The only troupers,
Keep my head aright.
Mr. Sandman whispers
And beats me over the head
With his bags
Of pleasant dreams and rest.
"Mr. Sandman, wait!
I must study.
Because... because..."
Oh, forget it.
I'll study in the morning.
