A friend of mine whom I have known for well over thirty years shares his emails with me on a weekly basis. Larry and I became friends while we were working together during the late '70's on into the early 90's. Our friendship is one that some felt unlikely because while he is one of those Montana cowboys, and I am an African American we are what some feel is a strange friendship.

I grew very fond of Larry and could always count on him to be honest with me. When others would say what they felt I wanted to hear, Larry would tell me the 'truth.' no matter how unpleasant. When I needed support, he was there.

When I had to take on the task of racial discrimination, Larry was a major sounding board even when he knew it might be a problem for him if he was found to be a supporter of my case.

Today, I opened this email and felt it was one I wanted the world to hear and read! Enjoy:
