I Wish I Were Simon and Garfunkel

Keith Mills
If I could be two instead of one
Perhaps my song would not be undone
So I have come without
The song I meant to sing
With every note and sound
My soul could not bring

They say if I were split in two
My heart would surround and engulf you
And the music that I played
Would somehow descend
To greet the words of love
That I can only intend

I wish I were Simon and Garfunkel
And no one knew which one I was
Then I could write my songs
And give them reality just for us -
On a snowy eve in December
It's the passion we remember

Oh, I wish I were those two
Yes, Simon and Garfunkel, too
Now I've come to doubt
What I so long believed
That behind those big eyes
Lies a mystery yet asleep

But don't let on to me
For everyone will see
Keep something for yourself
As it is, I'm just a shell
Being tossed around
In this endless hell
