I Wouldn't Have Time [To Love You] Anyway

A Poem

Etienne J. Sarfelli
I wouldn't have time to love you

To laugh at your jokes

Or smile at your kindness

I wouldn't have time to look into your eyes

So big and bright and deep

I wouldn't have time to lie down beside you

While you share your secrets with me

Or to let you kiss me deeply

Like it mattered

I wouldn't have time for it to matter

It doesn't matter

It never mattered

I wouldn't have time to miss you

When you're not here

I haven't missed you all this time

Since I saw you last

I've been busy

I haven't thought of you at all

I haven't wondered or cared how you've been

I don't have time to tell you now that I don't love you

But believe me, I don't

And I won't even have time to let it hurt me

That you have left me yet again.
