If that isn't good enough for you then you can turn on a timer to remind you to take another breathalyzer test 2 to 4 hours later.
The iBreath is fairly inexpensive compared to the legal fees and fines that come with getting arrested for a DUI. The $79 price tag from David Steele Enterprises isn't too big of a deal especially for the celebrities that have already purchased the iBreath and put it to use.
Founder of David Steel Enterprises, Don Bassler told the Los Angeles Times that the idea came from talking to friends of older children who worried their kids would attempt to drive while inebriated. One of these friends suggested a breathalyzer for the iPod so Bassler went to work on it.
During the development of the iBreath iPod breathalyzer gadget Bassler realized that on its own the tool was a bit boring. He wanted to avoid iBreath owners dropping it into a drawer and forgetting about it. To sex it up a little he designed the iBreath to work as an FM transmitter so that the iPod can be listened to in the car. I'm guessing that will probably be the thing that keeps teens interested in the iBreath more than the breathalyzer part of it.
Another great feature of the iBreath iPod breathalyzer gizmo is that it not only works on the iPod. It is also compatible with the iPod Nano, iPod touch and iPhone.
The iBreath is not the first gadget to help prevent bad drunken behavior. In the Apple App Store there is an application called Last Call that reads blood alcohol content and gives you a list of attorneys that specialize in handling DUIs. Drunk Dial is another drunken tool that keeps iPhone users from drinking and making stupid phone calls and Taxi Magic calls a taxi for you without you having to know the phone number of a local taxi cab company.
The iBreath iPod Breathalyzer comes with LCD display, USB cord, 12V car adapter and needs no batteries. If you're looking to purchase the iBreath you can hit up the David Steele website at www.davidsteele.com.
