iCarly Party Planning Ideas: Games and Activities

Lisa Carey

Are you planning an iCarly birthday party but don't know what games and activities you should offer your guests to play? Try any one of these eight game and activity ideas based on the popular show and the iCarly webcasts which feature Carly, Sam, Gibby and Freddie.

Random Dancing

No iCarly event would be complete without "Random Dancing!" You can purchase an iCarly hits CD which features 29-35 (if you purchase the enhanced version) songs straight from the show or you can bring your own kid friendly or favorite music CD's. Turn up the volume, call out random dancing and watch the kids do their own thing.

Spencer's Sculptures

Spencer is Carly's brother and quite the artist. His sculptures are made from things he has "found" or found interesting. One episode also features him doing a Claymation movie. To create Spencer's sculptures consider one of these two options. Create clay sculptures with fast drying, multi colored clay. Include a few odds and ends like straws, eyes, buttons or beads and see what sort of clay creatures your crew can make. The nice thing about the clay sculptures is that it will dry during the remainder of the party and can be taken home as a gift for attending.

Or you can create a group sculpture using this and that, from your recycling bin and items around the house. Make sure to bring plenty of duct or packaging tape, glue or colored masking tape to hold your sculpture together. This makes for a great group project or you can even spread it out and have teams to compete against each other.

Freddie's Mom Freaks Out

The messier the better with this game. Freddie Benson's is a little (okay may a lot) overprotective and can't stand germs or messes. Consider a messy game of whipped cream balloon busting fun or Silly String fight.

Pin the Wart on Lewbert or Pin the Webcam on Nevel

This game is an older version of "Pin the Tail on the Donkey." Print out a picture of Lewbert (the doorman) or Nevel (Carly's nemesis) and post it on the wall. Give each guest either a webcam picture (for Neville) or a wart, making sure to make it sticky. You may want to use the sticky post it notes or double sided tape. Cover each player's eyes with a scarf and see where the wart or the webcam will land.

Hey! What am I sitting on?

Taken from the episode where Principal Franklin wants to wish his daughter a "Happy Birthday" life on iCarly this game involves a chair and an assortment of odds and ends (treats snacks or toys). Use items that are somewhat easily identifiable by touch only. Cover the players eyes, sit them on a chair that has the item and they can use their hands to guess "what am I sitting on?" This game can go on for too long, especially if you have many guests so it's best to set a one minute timer so players don't get restless waiting for their turn.

iCarly Penny Tees

In this episode Carly, Sam and Freddie find out that their penny tees with silly sayings business has gone through the roof. In an effort for supply to meet demand the cast hires 4th graders to help them create these popular t-shirts, but disagree about the working conditions. For this activity you will need colored t-shirts (choose light colors good for boys and girls) and t-shirt paints, markers or other embellishments. You will also need several sheets of cardboard (I used sheets from shipping boxes.) Slip the t-shirt over the cardboard and then have the kids design their own t-shirt saying or picture. Leave on the cardboard to dry and remind parents that it still may be wet when it is taken home.

The Gibby Game

Gibby is well known for loving to take his shirt off. While you may not want this happening at your birthday party, he is also the one webcast member ready to try just about anything. For this particular version of a Gibby Game create a "shower" in the center of the room. You could use a large shipping box propped against the wall, with three sides as the enclosure. Have guest step into the shower and sing any random song that comes into their head.

Another game based on the Gibby character could be a trivia game with questions from the show. Set up each guests at a table and send out trivia questions about the show. The first to answer the most questions correctly wins (adapted from the episode where Gibby asks questions of the girls in an effort to get a date with the girl of his dreams.)

It doesn't matter if you choose one or all of these fun filled iCarly games. The important thing is to be creative and have fun, after all that's what iCarly is all about.
