Nickelodeon's tween show iCarly, starring Miranda Cosgrove has fans aged 6-16 and my youngest daughters never want to miss an episode. It was no surprise when I asked my 6 year old what sort of birthday party she wanted to hear, "I want an iCarly birthday party." This task as first is easier said than done, until I spent some time finding out what it is about iCarly that kids really love. Of course no iCarly episode or birthday party would be complete without the food and favors that helps make this show famous.
iCarly Party Planning: Food
Carly, Spencer and friends celebrate every important occasion with "Spaghetti Tacos." No birthday party would be complete without this well-known food item. How did Spaghetti Taco's get invented? They couldn't decide one night on spaghetti or taco's for dinner. Spencer created spaghetti tacos. It's simple to create for your birthday party. Make your favorite spaghetti dish and keep it warm in a slow cooker. Toast corn tortilla taco shells and spaghetti taco's are served. No meatballs please, because that is another dish.
Magic Meatballs should also a part of your party planning menu. You have heard of the magic 8 ball, well Spencer has a magic "meatball." One popular episode shows him using the "magic meatball" to help him make decisions, not something that Spencer is very good at. To create your magic meatballs you can simply use pre-made meatballs and cover with spaghetti sauce. Another delicious way of serving is to cook premade meatballs in one can of cranberry sauce mixed with about half a jar of salsa. Sweet and spicy!
Let them eat pie! Coconut crme pie that is. One popular episode of iCarly has the whole gang gaga over Gallini's Cocunut Crme Pie. Unfortunately Gallini is old and dies leaving behind a bakery full of people who want to know the secret behind his delicious pies. In an effort to find a replacement Sam, Freddie and Carly host a coconut crme pie competition. You can either make the pies yourself as small tarts or simply purchase a pie to share.
"I love me some fudge," says Sam. "Good I love to make fudge" says the new intern to help Freddie, Carly and Sam with the web show. Why not make a pan of homemade fudge or even have making fudge as one of your activities or party favors to go home.
Skip the Fruit Bouquet and serve up Waffles with a Waffle Bouquet. In one episode, Spencer tries to make up for Carly's history of "bad birthdays" starting the day off with a birthday party waffle bouquet. Insert waffles on kabob sticks and decorate with fresh fruit too, just like on the show.
Sam loves food, but her favorites are all in the "meat" category. She dated one boy because he gave her the gift of the "bacon of the month club." Include some of Sam's favorites such as Fried Chicken, Ribs, Ham or Bacon.
iCarly Party Planning: Favors
Create your own silly shirts based on the Penny T-s episode. Sam and Carly design their own t-shirt line and argue over how to treat their own employees. Have your guests create their own t-shirts with shirts from a craft store and embellishments that they can take home.
Spencer's best friend is "Socko" who keeps Spencer stocked up with socks. But not just any socks; glow in the dark socks, flashing light socks, and weird design socks. Hit the sock stand and pick up the most interesting and unusual socks you can find.
Depending on how much you want to spend, the iCarly remotes featured on the show are available at Toys R Us for approximately $7.99. Why not send a little bit of the show home with each of your guests? (prices and availability subject to change).
Do you have a friend that is great with a camera? Be sure to have them record the party and then create your own movie using software on your computer. Your thank you "cards" are the cover to the DVD case and inside are the highlights of your event.
So now you have your invitations, activities and games, food, and favors. Use these helpful ideas, tips and suggestions to help you plan a techriffic iCarly birthday.
