ICarly - TV Show Review

Walter Kovacs
iCarly is a television show produced by Nickoledeon that stars Miranda Cosgrove, Janette McCurdy and Nathan Cress. It is about how Carly and her friends decided to make an internet webshow. There are lots of odd things that happen to them because of their show, such as when they are filimg a segment on their show called "Messin with Lewbert," they accidentaly shoot Lewbert (their evil doorman) with a confetti cannon that explodes. He gets injured, and his huge wart (almost an inch in diameter) gets blown off. He has to get it sewn back on. And while he is recovering, the three kids do him favors at his house. To add a twist, Freddie's mom dates Lewbert. The kids have to stop Mrs. Benson from getting married to Lewbert, otherwise, he'll end up being Freddy's dad.

This show is a lot of fun to watch. There are always zany adventures (such as when iCarly attempts to break the world record for longest webcast, which is 24 hours) in which Carly, Sam and Freddy get themselves into the weirdest predicaments.

The acting is ok. Janette McCurdy and Nathan Cress are better actors than Miranda Cosgrove in this show. She seems very fake, whereas the rivalry that Freddy and Sam have adds a depth to their characters that Carly doesn't seem to have. There is also Spencer (played by Jerry Trainor) who is an artist. Spencer often builds odd sculptures that are, let's say... odd. For one episode, he built a tree with many rubber noses attached to it and called it "Merry Sniffmas." On another, he built a sculpture of a man out of butter. When Sam accidentaly turned the heat up in his house, the sculpture melted and he needed to rebuild it.

This show is really good for your eight through twelve year old. They will find it a lot of fun, as well as really funny and witty. This show will grow boring after you are about twelve though. It becomes just another sitcom that your kid will see once and rule out as boring.

Be warned: There are reference to dating, boys, and girls on this show. If your kid doesn't understand these concepts yet, many of the jokes will fall on deaf ears. This show is fun, but I wouldn't reccommend it for anyone below the age of 8.

I would rate this show an 8 our of 10 for kids 8-12 years old. It is a lot of fun and many kids who watch it find that it is their favorite show!
