ICE: A Chilling Christmas Event with Santa in Florida

It's not often we can think of a White Christmas in Florida, but this is a magical time of year and Orlando as always, pulls out all stops....you don't have to fly to the Northern Hemispheres, just grab a jacket or sweater, a pair of gloves, maybe even a hat and head on over the Gaylord Palms Resort, to experience ICE! The only attraction of its kind in this the Sunshine State!

The Gaylord Palms is a themed luxury resort, located just 5 minutes from Disney World, and each year they have a holiday party, more like an extravaganza which will delight people of all ages. With clever ingenuity the resort transforms into a winter wonderland, with a huge 54 ft Christmas tree as it's centerpiece in the main atrium...surrounding this tree are classical and whimsical decorations, sure to delight everyone.

This is just one part of the resorts "Best of Florida Christmas Events", the highlight is the main attraction, ICE, where a collection of hand carved ice sculptures, await your ooh's and ahh's...Nearly 2,000,000 pounds of ice are sculpted in holiday scenes and for those brave enough to try it, giant ice slides...This year the feature is a holiday road trip through ICE, where you will travel into a full size Igloo, then board a holiday train, as you venture though the North Pole, and arrive at a fun spot for children of all ages, young and old alike, Candy Land, yes, the game which all of us have played at one time or another...only this one if made of ice!

From there you will head on over to Penguin Pointe, a "chilling" tribute to those cute creatures of the South Pole, where you will get the chance to ride 3 ice slides, one, the tallest in the history of this annual extravaganza known as ICE.

Enjoy the rare opportunity to have a winter experience in Florida, where you can actually see your breath as you breathe in the cool air kept at 9 degrees, but don't worry, they will provide you with a snuggly warm parka, as part of your admission fee.

After that there are the Gnomes to see and, what Christmas venue would be complete without Santa where another delightful sight awaits as the famous man holds court while the kiddies whisper their holiday wishes while their photograph is taken by those very popular Christmas elves...and, for another rare treat, you can even visit Mrs. Claus at the resorts, Villa De Flora restaurant where the famous Mrs. holds court every weekend for a tasty brunch everyone is sure to enjoy.

Yes, ICE is certainly a rare treat in Florida and one my family has enjoyed in the past and where we will be next week at this very same time. ;)

You too can enjoy this chilly treat in Orlando, everyday from now until January 3, 2008, including holidays.

Happy Holidays

Do they still charge $7 for parking? The first few times we went there it was free.

Great review! I'll have to keep it mind. We head down that way often enough!
